The scheme will run for 12 months and provides a new pathway to Australia for highly skilled workers.

 

The scheme will apply to highly skilled positions that are not currently included in the TSS categories. There will be two relevant streams, one for start-ups and one for established businesses, these are designed to help businesses grow by hiring individuals with specialised skills that they are otherwise unable to find in the Australian Labour Market.

The visa will have prioritised processing and is valid for up to four years. After three years sponsored under the scheme, workers will have a pathway to a TSS visa and permanent residence.

The scheme may be appealing to employers who require specialised skill not accepted under the TSS occupation list or occupations that are paid above the Fair Work High Income Threshold.
